The New York City Health Department reported last evening that the number of cases of Legionnaires’ disease in the Upper East Side neighborhoods of Carnegie Hill and Yorkville has risen to 23, with 17 people being hospitalized. The city reports there have been no deaths associated with this outbreak. The city is continuing to investigate. Iran fired at least two missiles at commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night, Axios reported, testing a late-June deal with the US to halt attacks as the two sides work toward a peace agreement. Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple has issued an emergency rule suspending insurance cancellations and non-renewals in certain parishes as the state recovers from Tropical Storm Arthur. Emergency Rule 50 states that insurers refrain from issuing any notice of cancellation, notice of renewal, nonreinstatement or any other notice in the parishes of Avoyelles, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Landry, St. Tammany, and Terrebonne. Farmers Insurance has agreed to pay $2.87 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a Texas insurance agent sent unsolicited calls and texts in violation of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The class action alleges that Todd Henderson Insurance Agency and/or R. Todd Henderson sent calls and messages to phone numbers registered on the National Do-Not-Call Registry.
