The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Thursday it has opened a preliminary probe into 114,922 Rivian vehicles over an issue with the rear toe link. The issue relates to the company’s R1S and R1T electric vehicles. The agency’s office of defects investigation received two vehicle owner questionnaires reporting that the left rear toe link separates while driving, causing vehicles to swerve across multiple lanes of traffic, NHTSA said. Temu, the Chinese e-commerce giant, was fined €200 million ($232 million) by the European Union for failing to stop sales of unsafe baby toys and chargers on the platform. The European Commission, which polices EU rules targeting tech firms, said in a statement that its investigation, which included making purchases on Temu in a “mystery shopping exercise,” often found products that posed a danger to buyers. The insurer’s 2026 Risk Monitor report is based on a survey of 500 U.S. midsize and large business. Results put both cyber risks and economic risks at the top for 77% of respondents. A U.S. appeals court on Thursday overturned a $59 million verdict that medical device maker Insulet won against Korean rival EOFlowfor allegedly stealing trade secrets related to its insulin-pump technology. Cruise operator Carnival Corp said on May 27 it had detected a cybersecurity incident involving a compromised account of an employee in April, leading to the leak of certain personal information of individuals, including names, addresses and government-issued identification numbers.
