A coalition of public health organizations, pediatricians and parents sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on July 14, challenging a new policy that allow some manufacturers to sell vapes and nicotine without the legally required license. A helicopter helping fight a Colorado wildfire has crashed into a reservoir, killing the pilot, authorities said. The aircraft was reported down Sunday in the Silver Jack Reservoir and the pilot’s body was recovered by divers. The Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office identified the pilot as 56-year-old Nicholas Dale of Sooke, British Columbia. A procession of law enforcement vehicles carried Dale’s body from Gunnison to Grand Junction on Monday. One year after the tragic fire at Gabriel House in Fall River claimed the lives of 10 residents and injured dozens more, Massachusetts has finalized a set of new safety regulations to better protect those living in assisted living residences across the state. The new regulations implement recommendations from the Assisted Living Residences Commission, incorporate public feedback, and set stronger standards for fire safety, emergency preparedness, resident protections and accountability by the industry.
